I don't know why, but I can't get the handle... :hmm:
Do you have any reference for the handle, or was it all your creation?
It's the only flaw in my opinion. Everything else, perfect! ;)

If you remember, I made my own in the forums. :D

I don't have a ref for the handle at all. just made it up as I went along. The tut is a real slimed down version of this sword.

check you pm's on paint. I'll send you two tuts that I've looked at they have nice handles. also I put in a different version handle in the post immediately following the tut (second post) you might like that one better.

ciao OMA

remember check your pms at paint.net.

Yeah, I saw the second one in the tutorial.
The other ones seems interesting though...

Thanks! :D

I've been meaning to make that leather handle but just can't decide on what to try it out on. not another sword for sure. I was thinking it would make some sort of impressive abstract, with OMA style modifications of course. LOL!

we will see.... its an interesting idea. you never know what this crazy mind of mine can come up with. LOL!

won't say when its going to be done. but the idea is perking away in the background. looks like a lovely paint.net escape for one of those insomniac nights.

yes absolutely paint.net. I did do a simplified tut on the sword for advanced beginners level. Its fairly close looking to this one . If you have any experience at paint.net you should be able to elaborate on the tut, to suit your own style and tastes. also the second post of the tut I've listed aditional tips and some variations.

did a scaled down tut over on the Paint.net forum just so you can verify its done 100% paint.net.

I did a few more tweeks here not shown on the tut.

different engraving and more push, pull, squeeze and squish on the hand
guard
some little pixel painting in of added highlights and lowlights

but all absolutely possible in paint.net.

if you have a chance look and try the tut.

its rated moderate difficulty. but there are lots of instruction pictures so I think even beginners will be able to follow along. That's as long as they already know how to add plugins. LOL!

well I don't know yours were well before all the lovely new plugins .... so yours were more difficult to accomplish.

but thanks for the comment.

now I have to figure out a basic tut I'm not even going to begin to describe the steps for the highlights etc etc in the tut, that would take about 3 or 4 pages. LOL!

bet you will smack your palm to your head at how devilishly simple that engraving is.

will show you in the upcoming tut.. The tut will be just some basics on sword making, little tips on things to watch for

and loads of room to customize your own sword. but the decorations I'll definitely cover it in the tut.

don;t forget it will be a simplified tut so the beginners can follow along and get a reasonable sword to use as well. I'm very sure you have the pdn skills and will be able to improvise and add your own special touches.

I'm very bad with remembering how I've done stuff, people have asked me to tut stuff before but some things I really can't remember how to do...
Though as the night progresses I tend to get a lot worse, creativity just hits the floor, but then again I'm not a big coffee drinker. ;) Still, seriously awesome work, and the fact it's 100% PDN makes it all the more remarkable. :)

a simplified version of the sword is just about finished. I didn't remember the exact settings I used or effects I used on original but this one I'm making tut of is pretty darn good. hardest part is simplifying it down so the begginners can follow along and leaving enough areas for the better paint.net users to modify and adjust to their individual tastes.
I'll be posting it in next day or so. just doing the finishing text.
